Recreation Assistant (Liberty Program)

Location: Naval Station Everett

Pay Grade: NF-0189-02

This position provides quality customer service to all eligible patrons. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.

Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent works as a clerk/counter person for the MWR Everett Liberty Program at the Vibes Single Sailor Recreation Center and Pierside Plaza Cyber Café. Incumbent provides services related to entertainment, limited library resources, recreation programs, and other community center functions for eligible patrons. Greets customers and provides whatever service or information they are seeking. Advises customers on subjects such as resource locations, computer usage, single sailor programs and other general information. Checks out board and video games to patrons, assists customers wanting to watch movies. Answers telephone inquiries for information offered by the Pierside Plaza and directs customers to sources of additional information when necessary. Operates a Computerized Point of Sale System; receives cash and makes change for items sold; prepares a Daily Activity record; submits receipts and change fund to the proper location for deposit. Keeps office space and facility clean, neat and organized.

Qualification Requirements: Incumbent must be minimum of 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a 15 passenger van. Must have a minimum of 1 year experience with handling cash and operating a cash register. Must be courteous and friendly to customers at all times and make every attempt to solve whatever questions or problems presented. Must have knowledge in cash handling and can perform general clerical duties. Must be able to operate a computer and have a basic knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Explorer. Must be proficient in oral and written communication. Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).
