Child & Youth Program Operations Clerk

Location: NAS Whidbey Island School-Age Care

Pay Grade: NF-0303-02

Employee provides clerical support for military families that avail services of Child Care Center. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.

Summary of Duties: Serves as a contact point for information and perform clerical and administrative tasks in support of Child and Youth Program. Performs a combination of duties such as record keeping, reporting liaison with families and programs, and collection and monitoring of fees and supplies. Prepares and maintains assigned reports, correspondence, statistical and financial data pertaining to components within the CYP. Provides front desk coverage, logs children in and out of the facility, and informs and answers questions regarding programs and services, patron financial obligations, waiting lists, events and policies and procedures. Take telephone calls and responds to inquiries, referring calls to supervisors or other personnel when appropriate. Collects fees and charges and records payments in accordance with proper procedures. Notifies supervisors of all delinquent payments. Serves as a mandatory reported to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must provide proof of High School Diploma or equivalent, and any additional education, certification, and or training as required prior to placement.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent AND 2 years of administrative experience. Knowledge of general office automation software, practices and procedures in order to accomplish various work assignments. Ability to maintain a computerized database. Knowledge of military Child Development Center  program.  Experience working military families and an understanding of military lifestyle is preferred. Experience with cash handling required. Ability to effectively communicate and follow directions verbally and in writing.

Conditions of Employment: Ability to favorably pass a pre-employment physical and provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).
