Two-Day Basic Sea Kayaking Course

Learn how to get in and out of a kayak, what to do if the kayak capsizes and various rescue techniques. On the last day, take learned skills to the open water. This class is required in order to rent inboard kayaks or to participate in kayak excursions/tours.

Session I: Prior to pool session at the Convergence Zone, participants must watch a safety video and sign a Hold-Harmless Agreement and Medical Screening form.

Session II: Pool Sessions are held 4:30-6:30 pm at the NASWI Aviation Survival Training Center, across the street from Naval Hospital Oak Harbor. Please wear a swimsuit and bring a towel.

Session III: Open-water sessions are held on day two, from 4:30-7:30 pm. Meet the class at the Seaplane Base.
